Over the last couple of days a number of media houses have run stories about the Ministry of Education setting the date of school re-opening being very soon in the next two weeks. The Ministry has however come out and denied the story and stating that they did not out any notice of the kind.
The update on the matter was revealed by Director of Education Standards at the ministry Dr. Kedrace Turyagenda who wondered who gave the media houses this bit of information which was not issued by the Ministry.
“The ministry of Education has not decided that schools will be re-opening in two weeks time. I haven’t read the paper where that information is and I don’t know where they got it from?” Said Dr. Turyagenda.
The information regarding schools reopening in two weeks time, first appeared in Daily Monitor. Universities and Tertiary institutions have been speculated to reopen in September and October starting with finalist students but no these have not yielded anything.
Schools re-opening remains a hot topic on the Ugandan media as students and pupils have been put on pause for the last two years. A number of analysts predict that government will only reopen if the different stakeholder in the education sector take on the covid19 vaccine jabs.
