The Uganda Police has confirmed that during the weekend they conducted an operation at a bar in Forest mall and therewith arrested 6 revelers for breaking the presidential directives on covid19.
The police said that they got tip-offs from the bars neighbors who called the cops complaining about noise pollution and large gatherings by the revelers which were inconveniencing them.
According to police spokesman Luke Owoyesigire the six arrested party animals were to be arraigned in court today. The six will be facing charges of engaging in acts likely to cause the spread of infections.
In a separate development the IGP has also instructed the police professional standards unit to look into investigating commanders who allow suspended events to take place under their watch. Since the lockdown was put in place and bars closed, a number of bars still operate in utter contravention of the SOPs issued by President Museveni.
