Yesterday Uganda Police posted a number of pictures on their social media accounts alerting the public that they were patrolling the danger hub of Masaka which has been raided by panga wielding killers whose motive is as mysterious as their attacks. It seems the photoshoot did more to upset Ugandans than it did reassure them about the security in Masaka.
Ugandans on Twitter and Facebook castigated the force for being more intrested in handling the matter cosmetically by posting their officers who were clad in uniforms and masks thinking that this will deter the criminal minds that are slowly unravelling Masaka city. Yesternite a number of people were attacked by the criminal panga wielders. Maria Nakyanzi a 61 year old lady almost lost her arm during an attack by criminals who wanted to end her life.
The leader of opposition Mr Mathias Mpuuga also added his voice to the many who castigated police for taking on a cosmetic stance at solving crime in Masaka. A screen shot of his post on Facebook is below.
Where as Masaka killings continue to pile with every passing day, the general public is left with questions as to who is behind these atrocities, what their motive is and when Police will be able to repel the attacks on unarmed civillians. President Museveni called the perpetrators of these crimes pigs and promised to deal with them.
